"We want to bring a fine-art approach to making clothes," insists Adam Tullie, who, along with design partner Angeline Rivas, is introducing the T-shirt label Cavern this season.
“Conceptualising a work of art to be worn was a fresh idea, as the natural evolution of my paintings and drawings started to have a sort of pattern sensibility to them." For such a statement, you might expect each piece to be intense and conspicuous, but they're far from it.
The muted brown, faded navy, olive, and white tees feature hand-drawn graphics on super-soft, whisper-thin cotton with visible seams and frayed edges, lending them that inside out, just-thrown-on A~Šlan.
And although the 23-year-old Californian duo, who met while at college in L.A., still refuse to describe themselves as designers, given that they're branching out into hoodies, cashmere sweaters, and jackets for next season, we beg to differ. AC
