A native Australian male with impeccable homedecorating skills and a knack for colour co-ordination... who's actually interested in mating with females?

Sadly, this only exists in the animal kingdom, in the form of the bowerbird - the habits of which are the cue for a new art exhibition. In the same way that males of the species will collect objects of a single colour to attract females to their nest, for their 'Bowerbird' exhibition, Orson & Blake have tasked some of Australia and NZ's finest designers (including Rittenhouse, Zambesi, Kate Hurst, Kate Sylvester and Tsubi) with creating artworks themed around an individual hue. The works will go on sale, with proceeds to Fashion Targets Breast Cancer, at the O&B store gallery (483 Riley Street, Surry Hills, Sydney) from April 20 'til the end of May.

Who’s got the time to trawl second-hand shops and flea markets searching out the perfect, low-priced pair of unique vintage sunnies? The unemployed, that’s who. And they deserve the bargains – they’ve got precious little cash to spare, after all. If, however, you’re among the ranks of the time-poor gainfully employed, and are prepared to spend a few extra dollars to source enviable vintage eyewear (with the added convenience of never having to leave your workstation), pay a visit to shadykids.com, a Sydney-based site shifting nifty old-school ocular goodies. Current stock includes one-off items from the likes of Ray-Ban, Carrera, YSL and Dior, plus fabulously tacky brand of yore, Le Specs.

The Adidas and Puma athletic-wear empires were formed when a spat caused brothers Adi and Rudolf Dassler to go their separate ways.

We think the siblings should have settled their dispute like men... with a good old-fashioned breakdance battle, as seen in eighties cult classic Beat Street. The movie is the inspiration behind Puma's latest line of old-skool goodies, named 'From the Archives', which includes authentic reissues of the classic Puma Clyde trainer, and slick shiny nylon jackets emblazoned with breaker motifs. Perfect attire for a spot of up-rockin', body-poppin' or lockin' whether you're headed for the hotel, motel or Holiday Inn.

We do our bit for charity here at NyloN, supporting the disadvantaged in their endeavours to better themselves. And who's more disadvantaged than those who fit into both the categories of visuallyimpaired and vermin? (Cripes, they're blind, they're targeted for extermination, and they don't even get to use those convenient disabled parking spots - now that's disadvantaged.) We hugely admire the poor Three Blind Mice collective, who - though they lack sight and must surely struggle to hold brushes in their tiny rodent hands - manage to create marvellous visual artworks. Presented by NyloN, the collective's exhibition See How They Run shows at China Heights Gallery, 16-28 Foster St, Surry Hills, Sydney, from 28 April, featuring the work of up'n'coming local artists Andrew Johnstone, Rory Woods, Emma Theyers, Paul Garbett, Nick Rudenno, Mark Callaghan, and Briton Ian Francis.
